We have finished our Daily 5 reading for the year. Here are some of us doing our activities.
Paper Trail We have been busy making paper from our recycling bin in the classroom. We ripped up the pieces into little bits and left them to soak for 3 days. Then we put them it in a blender to make it into pulp. We added green or red food colouring to the mixture and than put it put it on the mesh frame. We patted it out onto wax paper and made it a bit thinner. It took about 3 days to dry out properly. we have started making Christmas Cards with our recycled paper.

We have been having a lot of fun at the pool with our swimming lesson. We have also been having fun laying games while waiting for the bus to take us back to school.

We have been very busy over the last few weeks and no-one has had time to add the class blog! In weeks 1 and 2 we had tennis lessons and had to practise some very hard skills. It was made even more difficult when the strong wind kept blowing our balls away.

Some photos from our fantastic day out at Ferrymead Historic Park.  What a wonderful experience dressing up and experiencing daily life and school as it was one hundred years ago.

Compiling Orders at the General Store

Scooping up the aniseed lollies.
Writing with pen and ink requires alot of concentration.
We have been continuing to explore poetry styles and using the structure of a published poem to create our own imaginative writing.

On Friday we dressed up as Super heroes to raise funds for Kids Can.  We all looked great and enjoyed the parade with our buddy class.  Indiana won best costume in the whole school.  She was Lightning Girl and her costume was cleverly sewn by her mum!  Molly (Good Girl) and Larissa (Incredibles girl) won best costume in Room 18. Miss MacKenzie had a difficult job choosing because everyone had made such a fantastic effort to dress up.

We are 2 weeks into our six lessons at Olympia Gym and room 18 are really enjoying the challenges the activities are providing us.  The trampoline seems to be especially popular, and the bars offer the greatest test of abdominal strength.  We have even discovered there are several talented gymnasts among us!
Doing our warm -up in the pike position.

Ollie enjoys the trampoline.
Georgia enjoys the bars.

Livvy and Indiana show us their hula skills!

Coby shows a good head for heights!

What great strength you have Joshua. Well done

Recount Writing

We  have been learning to write recounts about a personal experience this term with the focus on organising our ideas into paragraphs.  We had to start with an introduction and then write what happened and finish with a conclusion or summary of what we thought or how we felt about our experience.

Jett's Journey to School
by Molly

On Thursday 20th June Jett came to school.  Jett belongs to Ms MacKenzie.

Jett was born in March and is 16 weeks old.  No-one knows if Jett is a he or she.

Jett is not allowed to eat lettuce but Jett is allowed to eat any other fruit or vegetable.  He normally eats rabbit pellets.  Jett does not eat brocoli that much but he loves silverbeet. Jett loves eating apples as well.

Jett's breed is Netherland Dwarf.  He will not grow very big and his ears will not flop.

Jett runs around in the backyard in the afternoon, but he must be watched because there are lots of cats going around the place.

It was awesome having Jett visit because he is so cute.
